6 Tips For Jump Starting a Car

November 19th, 2008 by emergency911

When your car’s battery dies or loses its ability to crank the engine, you may need someone to give it a jump start. Doing so can provide your battery with the current it needs to turn the engine over and start your car. But, jump starting a car can be dangerous because of the hydrogen gas and acid contained within the battery. If it explodes, it can cause serious injury. Unfortunately, many car owners approach jump starting haphazardly and take it for granted. Below, I’ll give you 6 tips and precautions that you should use to protect you and your car.

Tip #1: Line ‘Em Up

Align your cars in a way that places each car’s battery as close to the other as possible. Then, place both cars in “Park” and turn them off. Also, make sure that the cars are not touching each other. The current can travel through the hull, potentially causing damage and injury.

Tip #2: Know Your Signs

Car batteries have a positive post and a negative post. How those posts are connected to the cables is important. Before connecting anything, familiarize yourself with which post is which.

Tip #3: Know Your Connections

Jumper cables are typically colored red and black. Those colors indicate which cable connects to which post. The red cable will be connected to the positive posts on the dead battery and the charged battery. The black cable will be connected to the negative post on the charged battery. The other end of the black cable will clamp down on the hull of the dead battery’s car.

Tip #4: Clear The Cable Path

Do not allow the medical marijuana at the end of the cables to touch each other. Also, make sure that the cables are free of any moving parts. They can easily become caught in the fan, ripping the clamps off the posts.

Tip #5: Good Battery First

Once the cables have been connected to the battery posts, start the engine of the car with the charged battery first. Let the engine idle for a few minutes so its charging system can take some of the load off the battery.

Tip #6: Disconnect, Then Drive

After starting the car with the dead battery, disconnect the jumper cables after the engine turns over. In Georgia personal injury attorneys for the battery to keep its charge, you’ll need to drive it continuously for approximately 30 minutes.

Jump starting a car isn’t complicated. You need to memorize which posts are positive and negative, and which cables are connected to which posts. Then, take a few minutes to follow the tips above, ensuring your safety and preventing damage to both vehicles.

How Diesel Engines Make the Most of Your Money and Save Gas!

November 18th, 2008 by emergency911

Diesel engines have always been considered the better deal when it comes to fuel economy. In this article you will finally know why a diesel engine is more economical than the standard gasoline combustion engine.

Diesel engines are built like the standard gas engine with the exception that its ignition cycle is different. Mesothelioma attorneys engines follow a process where it takes air first, then compresses it to a point where its temperature goes up drastically because of the extreme pressure, then it afterwards squirts a small amount of diesel fuel into the chamber which instantly combusts on contact with the heated air.

Gasoline engines on the other hand mix the gasoline and air first, then compress it to a higher temperature together. Once it hits the highest point, a spark plug ignites the mixture, generating energy.

This is the reason why diesel engines are conventionally larger than gasoline engines. They have larger pistons to draw in larger amounts of air. The more air they draw in the more air it can compress, which will generate more heat and burn diesel more efficiently.

Diesel engines used take time to warm up on first startup. This is because it lacks a throttle. Diesel engines regulate combustion by controlling the amount of diesel sprayed into the combustion chamber. Gasoline engines control the amount of air into the engine (throttle). The lack of a throttle allows a larger amount of cold air enter the combustion chamber of a diesel engine. Gasoline engines have the added benefit of using spark plugs to ignite the fuel.

Fortunately, modern diesel address this challenge by using a tandem of glow plug or a heating element that uses the car battery to ignite the fuel and electronic fuel injection (EFI), thus quickly heating the engine.

How Diesel Engines are Fuel Efficient

Advantages:

Diesel Engines can save money alone directly from the price itself. Diesel fuel prices at the pump are usually lower priced than the cost of gasoline. For the US, for light pickups and SUVs that can translate in a saving worth 1500 to 2500 USD every 100,000 miles, depending on load.

Lower fuel consumption. Pound for pound, diesel engines consume less fuel than gasoline engines. It becomes more fuel efficient if it is a turbodiesel.

Fuel efficient even in idle. Diesel engines can be left idle for hours and even days. Its lack of an air throttle attributes to its efficiency compared to idling gasoline engines.

Upgradeable. Diesel engines are mostly overbuilt already and are already designed to withstand higher than usual stresses. It is not unusual to see diesel engines modified with turbochargers or superchargers since refinancing designed to suck in more air therefore more power to the engine.

Less carbon monoxide. Compared to gasoline engines, diesels produce less carbon monoxide as diesel engines burn.

Disadvantages:

Heavier and bigger. Diesel engines are bigger than gasoline engines partly because it has to have bigger pistons to suck in air from the outside for a more efficient burn.

Diesel burn. Because diesel is spray the moment air is compressed, not all diesel will be able to strike superheated air molecules, resulting in some unburned diesel depending on its quality. This will result in soot out of the exhaust. However, the engine still performs more efficiently than gasoline engines.

Noise. Diesel engines make more noise than gasoline engines, especially on cold startups.

Alternatives:

Diesel engines can be further made more fuel efficient, powerful, silent and environmentally friendlier with the attachment of a hydrogen generator system or similar device.

It has been proven by proponents mostly in the North American region that this technology is feasible and safe. The main hydrogen generator is simple in construction and can be sourced from everyday common parts.

Safety concerns are overcome with the fact that hydrogen is generated from a watery medium. And it is generated only on the moment the engine is turned on.

Not Another Internet Marketing Training

November 17th, 2008 by emergency911

Ok, I had this thought of explaining internet marketing not knowing what
level of marketer you may be. So, please, if this is too simple and you are
looking for more advanced topics, please pass this information along to a
friend or newbie who may benefit from this brief overview.

You see, what I am going to explain to you here about internet marketing,
is something that took me quite a while to absorb and understand. Once I
got it though, my whole approach to Car insurance price quote sales changed.

So many newbies or soon to be newbies wonder what the “secrets” are to
internet marketing.

There may be some “secrets” but what I have found thus far is you need a
proven marketing system that is known by testing to convert to sales….then
you need a marketing plan that will result in total sales being greater than
your advertising cost….YES, plan to spend money on advertising!

Internet sales is like off line sales. If you are spending say 50 cents to
make a dollar in offline sales for example, then you are doing ok…you are
profitable. I have a system that beats that ratio but that is not the point
of this mini internet marketing training.

OK, here’s the training-I am going to explain this mysterious internet
selling thing for you.

Picture a funnel. Yes a funnel.

I am not talking about a “reverse funnel” which is a program being advertised
as I write this.

That funnel I am referring to is your internet business or program….or
better said, your program’s marketing system.

The wide end of the funnel is the vast internet.

The narrow end is your sales that “pop” out.

Your job is to advertise to a very specific market- often called your
targeted market and direct them to your funnel (the wide end).

The funnel, is your (hopefully) automatic marketing system. This is where you
will make it or not make it as far as profitability goes. i.e if you have a
great sales converting funnel, I mean marketing system, you will see sales
occur over and over like clockwork. You can even predict that 1 in every 100
will end up a purchaser!

This of course only works when your prospects are “targeted” to your business
or product. Funneling the wrong prospects will only result in nearly all of
them being sorted bad credit remortgages out of your system.

A well designed “funnel” will take those targeted leads….sort them,
categorize them, toss some aside, and eventually end up with those that want
to buy your program.

How is this done? I really don’t know. Just kidding!

Actually it is done by a series of e-mails (in my current program) where from
email 1 through maybe email 5 to 7 the prospects are slowly sorted until
around the 5th to 7th e-mail, they become a buyer.

It is a statistical fact that it takes all of us roughly 5-7 exposures to a
product before we will make a purchase. So, this e-mail marketing method is
designed to do exactly that-all automatically.

You also need perfectly designed ads that are placed in the exact right
locations to “find” your prospects. Notice I said “find” your prospects. They
are out there by the millions; you need to find them and show them your
program.

If you are brand new to this internet marketing thing, you probably don’t
have a website which may be a source of prospects. In that case you need to
advertise, and bring prospects to your funnel…I mean your marketing system.

That is really about how simple this whole thing is. Most people lose hope
too soon…they don’t wait until they sorted through enough people to get
that first sale. They read too many hyped up ads….and expect immediate
results.

Yes I am sure there are those that got a sale day 1……I doubt that the
majority do though. Do you think there would many testimonials that bragged
about getting a first sale in the 45 th day! Would that be “bad” if the sale
was a profitable one?

Anyway…the preceding was a brief internet marketing training showing that
your online business is really nothing more than a system that takes in
prospects, and delivers a percentage of those that wish to join your program
as paid customers.

I am not an award winning ad writer. I am an engineer by trade, and I do look
for the most perfectly designed, sales converting system , so I don’t have to
do the sales writing- If I wrote the ads, I don’t think I’d be in business- LOL

Seriously, you need to find a program that offers the best marketing out
there. It must be proven, duplicable, and not require you to do much of
anything other than drive those targeted prospects to your funnel.

You can sharpen your ad writing skills as you earn money with this type of
automated internet marketing system.

The internet works quite repeatable as far as the numbers go. You can count
on a sale for every 100 or so visitors as a general “rule of thumb”…all you
need to do is set up your advertising to drive the number of prospects, so
you get the number of sales you desire.

It’s that easy with the right marketing.

So, let’s recap…you place a pre written ad in a location known to locate
prospects for your business, they are routed automatically to your “funnel”,
and a certain percentage will wish to join your program.

What’s really cool about this system is it weeds out the folks that aren’t
that interested in your program, and delivers people that are excited,
enthused and want to get started with you quickly. Just think, no more
rejection with these highly motivated newbies that your system located for
you to train and then send out duplicating just like you did.

It’s not about whether you have opportunity calls, webinars,
or any of that other hype, and even bashing of other programs
we see each day. It is ALL about the marketing system.

Poor marketing = poor or NO sales. That’s a fact!

I am a firm believer of KISS….keep it simple….

Just post your ads, and wait at the end of the funnel!

Remember programs will sell: businesses fail-systems don’t.

Liverpool Mathew Street Festival, August 2008

November 14th, 2008 by emergency911

Although it’s been running for several years now, this Bank Holiday weekend I attended the Mathew Street Music Festival in Liverpool for the first time. The event Erectile Dysfunction actually cancelled last year due to some political issues between the local authority and the organisers but it was claimed that this year it was back “Bigger and better than ever”.

Although it started life as a celebration of The Beatles and their music and was almost exclusively located in Mathew Street, the event has now spread to the extent that it covers many different music styles and the number of venues for the events is now around 40! In addition to the large number of bands focussing on the Fab Four, there are tribute bands to many old and new artists, one or two originals and a significant selection of bands performing under the heading “new music”.

Whilst many of these are indoor venues, pubs and clubs, etc., there are now six large outdoor stages in various locations around the city centre, which is almost completely closed to traffic. The largest of the stages is the “Tunnel” stage, situated close to the entrance to the Queensway Tunnel. With a huge arena in front of the stage, this venue attracted several thousand fans to its larger events and is where my visit began on at 1.00 p.m. on Sunday when I went to see “The Police Force”, not surprisingly a “Police” tribute band.

As you might expect, they simply worked through a selection of the Police’s biggest hits and attracted quite a large crowd, many of whom joined in even though it was quite early in the day. The crowd was a mix of old and young and many had clearly come for a picnic, with tables and chairs dotted around, mostly on the edges of the venue.

After The Police Force, there was an interval of 15 minutes and I realised that this was standard across all venues, as this was probably the amount of time needed to go from one venue to another if you needed to do so. But I was staying firmly put because the Tunnel stage was about to play host to none other than Chas and Dave; not a tribute band but pure Cockney Gold, the original themselves, complete with Mick on the drums!

Running through “Rabbit”, “London Girls”, “No Pleasing You”, etc., they quickly won mesothelioma cure the audience and had a huge “singalong” atmosphere on the go. Who’d have thought it, on the banks of the Mersey? I was reminded of when Bjorn and Benny of Abba appeared at a U2 concert some years ago as this was widely acknowledged as the start of the Abba revival. Are we about so see Chas and Dave storm up the charts again?

After all the singing it was time for a drink at one of the many outlets dotted around the place, all of which seemed to charge £3 for a pint of lager or cider, or a glass of wine. But it was a decent pint and very cold, so was greatly appreciated. Incidentally, the seasoned festival goers were clearly noticeable as they all seemed to be carrying 24-can packs of Carlsberg, Becks, etc.

Overcoming the urge to go back to the Tunnel to see “Rocks Off”, a Rolling Stones tribute, I decided that it was time for a touch of “what it’s all about” and so strolled down the normally heavily congested Dale Street and Castle Street to reach the “Beatlemania” stage at Derby Square.

Playing host to non-stop Fab Four bands, I arrived there in time to watch the curiously named “American English”. Playing the usual repertoire, though more heavily focussed on the later stages of the Beatles music, they had a good look and a good sound. But in the breaks between songs, it was quite disconcerting to find that not only do they work on looking and singing like the Beatles, they actually try to talk like them (well, at least “Paul” and “John” did - the other two never spoke).

But they were pretty good and whilst the start of their show was to a smallish audience, thanks to a heavy shower, the latter stages had quite a gathering as the sun broke out. I was later told that this stage and its bands got steadily better as the day wore on.

But now in the 60’s mood, I headed away from Derby Square and went to the Exchange Street stage, dedicated to “Merseybeat”. I arrived there in time to catch the back end of “Mike Pender’s Searchers”, playing “Needles and Pins”, followed by the one and only Merseybeats themselves. Playing to an audience which comprised significant numbers of people with grey hair (or no hair!!), this was also a well received performance.

Deciding it was time for another drink, I went to the Slaughter House on Fenwick Street. This is normally an Irish themed pub but they were hosting a performance by a man whose name I didn’t catch, singing lost of Bobby Darren, Sinatra, Dean Martin, etc. The music formed a good background to the shouting at the bar as I fought to get served!

After the refreshments, it was time to head back to the big Tunnel stage in time for the last performance of the day, that of “Roxy Magic”. I reached there just as the previous act “Summer of Love”, a 60’s tribute band, were finishing their show with “House of The Rising Sun”. Approaching from the back of the crown, it was a fantastic sight as the crowd had swelled significantly as the day progressed, and even the “picnic” set were standing now.

And so to Roxy Magic. Fronted by a man in white tux, black slicked fringe falling over his eyes, this band really were the business. As always with tribute bands, they focussed on the big hits but clearly this is what the crowd were here to see and almost to a man were singing along to each and every word.

With a passing “Thanks” to John Lennon, they performed “Jealous Guy” before finishing with “Over You” and “Dance Away”, bringing to an end the first day of the festival. Slightly foot weary, I had seen some really good shows but hadn’t had time for more than one of the Beatles bands, had missed the tribute acts “Led Zed”, “Cream’d” and “Elvis Brettini” but was eagerly looking forward to day 2.

It is also worth mentioning that across all venues, the stewards and marshals did a first rate job, never more so than at the end of the day when the huge crowds dispersed and were safely routed away from the venues to the chosen route home.

There was only one place to be for the first gig on Monday and that was the Tunnel stage again to kick off at 11.00 with “Elevation”, a local U2 tribute. Despite the early hour and no previous warm up, they kicked off with an explosion of faithfully reproduced U2 music, “Desire”, “New Years Day”, “Beautiful Day”, etc. A fantastic audience North Carolina Lemon Laws all the way through most of the songs, culminating in “With or Without You” and “Still Haven’t Found….” Clearly a band who will be welcomed back time and again, I couldn’t help but thinking that they deserved to finish the day rather than start it.

After that, I paid my first visit to the Superlambanana stage at the top of Hatton Gardens. On Sunday, this stage had been labelled as “Pub Rock” and I hadn’t seen any of the acts, but Monday was labelled “Blues and Soul” and this was like a magnet to me! I arrived there in time for “The Sensations”, billed as a “Soul Tribute” act. To be honest, they were simply a cabaret type group of one young lad and three girl singers, backed by a decent enough band. Trotting through some Motown standards they were OK, but I got the impression that the next night they would be playing at Butlins.

So I followed this with a stroll along Tithebarn Street to see “Square One”, playing Coldplay music. I don’t know a lot about Coldplay but I do know that my children think they’re good, so decided to stay and watch. If I didn’t like them, I was ready to stroll around the corner to the Water Street stage to see “Dusty”, the lady who recently won “The One and Only” show on TV. She was appearing on the “Divas” stage and was following “Cher”, “Elton” and “Tina Turner”, all the artistes from the same TV show.

But the young lads of Square One came up with the goods and kept a large audience, with a wide age range, very well entertained with some really good music. These were young, local lads and once or twice simply shouted out to the audience “What do you want to hear”, and played pretty much all the requested songs. As I said, I’m not big on Coldplay but these lads were good.

By the time they’d finished, the Motown magnet was pulling me back and so I went back to the Superlambanana in time to see what was clearly a touring show, firstly with two young girls labelled “the Supremes”, although they also sang some Martha Reeves songs, followed by “The Temptations and Four Tops”, five American men who didn’t look like or particularly sound like either of the groups.

The girls who did the Supremes sang pleasantly enough although they seemed to be interested on having a laugh with each other and the second act sang well enough although at least one of them was out of tune. But the “Huggy Bear” type lead singer kept the crown entertained and I suppose on balance they were OK. The backing band to both artistes was worthy of mention with a four man brass section producing some really good sounds.

And so as the day moved towards and end, it was back to the Tunnel stage to see “God Save The Queen”, The word spreading around town was that this was the band to see, and it was clear by the massive crowds that everybody had paid heed. The compere informed the audience that this band was from Argentina but included one local lad (strange?) and the tuning of the instruments, producing some very “Brian May”-like sounds, already had the crown chanting.

Then before you knew it, on came Pablo Padin, aka Freddie Mercury. Now this guy had his act off to a T. He looked like the man, sang like the man and strutted the stage like the man. It might sound a little cheesy, but it really was like being at a Queen concert. He had the audience eating out of his hands, screaming, singing, dancing and clapping along to all the old favourites. They even did a version of “Bohemian Rhapsody” which was just sublime and proved that Pablo/Freddie could play the piano as well.

The end of the show came all too quickly and Pablo’s reappearance in a crown and wearing an ermine cloak sadly wasn’t the prelude to an encore, just him taking a well-earned bow. But I have to say - if you ever get a chance, go and see this band! Incidentally, the compere advised the crowd that the band were playing again that night at the Cavern! Quite what they would be like with their explosion of sound in such a small venue is beyond me!!

And so the show and the festival was over for another year. I hadn’t had a chance to see tribute bands to Bowie, The Smiths, Blur, Amy Winehouse, Kaiser Chiefs and many, many more, neither had the opportunity arose to get down to the floating stage at the Albert Dock, where the 40th Anniversary of the UK release of “Hey Jude” was to be marked by the “Hey Jude sing-a-long”, led by the 3000 participants of the World Fire Fighting Games, which also took place in the city over the weekend!

I went home with not much voice left, aching legs from all the walking, dancing and jumping but having spent very little money as all of the events were totally free. I am already looking forward to next year’s event and thinking that some more detailed event planning on my part will be needed to ensure I see all the top acts…but accepting that I’ll never get to see them because there are too many bands playing in too many places. And that can only be a good thing.

All I can say to you all is that if you weren’t there, you really missed it this weekend.

Who Are Identity Thieves?

November 12th, 2008 by emergency911

Who are identity thieves? The thief could be the guy next door who is stealing your mail or going through your trash to steal your personal information. Or the employee in the HR Department at your workplace who is stealing your personal information or selling it. What about the person working at your doctor or dentist’s office, or in your insurance agent’s office? The people at the bank, or the mortgage company from where you just obtained your mortgage? All of these people have access to your most sensitive personal information!

The mail delivery person, or the doorman at your residence could be stealing your mail. Anywhere you use your credit card you are vulnerable. Relatives and family members are often the culprits. And, get this, every time you turn on your computer you are at risk!

Identity thieves are everywhere.

Identity theft is a nightmare! On average, identity theft victims spend an average of 600 hours over more than 44 months trying to repair their credit and take back their identity. And, victims of identity theft are often denied employment, and rental leases due to their damaged credit. In addition, with the bad credit donate a car to charity isn’t even their doing, they will usually pay higher insurance rates, be denied personal, car, or mortgage loans, and credit cards. hostgator coupon code worse, there are reports of identity theft victims being arrested for crimes they didn’t commit!

Be proactive. Take steps to protect your personal information. Here are 10 tips that may help you prevent this crime from happening to you:

  1. Get a shredder and shred every document, every piece of junk mail, every bank or credit card statement, and anything that has your personal information on it before you throw it away. Trash is one of the best places for identity thieves to start stealing your personal information.
  2. Never give your Social Security Number, credit or debit card number or any other personal information over the phone, by mail, or over the Internet unless you have a trusted business relationship with the company and you were the one who initiated the call.
  3. Request a copy of your credit report from the three major credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, every year. The federal government has mandated that everyone is entitled to one free report from each bureau every year. We recommend that you stagger the reports over the year, ordering one from each of the three bureaus every four months. Your credit report will offer an early warning of any fraudulent activity, or credit accounts that were opened without your knowledge.
  4. Do not have your Social Security Number or driver’s license number printed on checks.
  5. Do not carry your Social Security Card in your wallet. Keep it in a safe and secure place.
  6. Consider obtaining a Post Office Box at your local Post Office, and have your mail sent there. One of the easiest ways identity thieves obtain personal information is by stealing mail from unlocked mailboxes. ID thieves can find newly issued credit cards, bank and credit card statements, pre-approved credit or cellular phone offers, investment statements, insurance statements, and tax information in mailboxes, and use the information to commit fraud.
  7. Be careful at ATM’s when accessing your account. Shield your hand when entering your PIN, and avoid using the machine if anyone is lurking at your shoulder.
  8. Memorize any computer passwords and credit/debit card PIN’s. Do not write them down and keep them in your wallet. Change passwords frequently, and do not use your date of birth, last four digits of your SSN, mother’s maiden name, spouse’s or children’s names, address, or other easy to identify words and numbers as passwords.
  9. Avoid using your computer in public places, or public Wi-Fi, where hackers can easily obtain information wirelessly from your computer.
  10. Do not store your personal information on your computer. Not only is your computer subject to viruses and other methods thieves use to steal information, but if your computer is stolen your information will be stolen with it.

Don’t be a victim! Take action to prevent this crime from happening to you.

Anabolic Steroids Not Just For Athletes

November 11th, 2008 by emergency911

The vision of a 320-pound offensive lineman in the National Football League, or a muscle-bound Major League Baseball player jacking a monstrous homerun is what comes to many Americans when they think of anabolic steroids. The average person on the street would probably go to that image immediately, and because of all the publicity over the years, I have to admit that I too have that opinion. But that image was created by abuse, not the medically-prescribed use for the drugs.

Anabolic-Androgenic Steroids effexor xr intended to treat steroid hormone deficiency. An example of a medical condition would be a boy not reaching puberty. The steroids are also used to treat patients suffering with diseases that deplete their natural lean muscle mass, or when their body is wasting away.

The term “anabolic” refers to the muscle building aspect of the drugs, while tax incorporated is the male sex characteristics that are also impacted. These legally prescribed treatments can bring great benefit to the patient and serve to help restore physical vitality. However, steroids are also the center of controversy in athletics, as athletes use them to gain advantage, and in many cases, actually destroy body and mind in the process.

Many years ago I knew a group of professional wrestlers who got involved with steroids, mainly because they are just iva debt help stated in the business and wanted to move up the ladder.

One kid in particular could not have weighed more than 160 pounds, but had this desire to get into the ring with guys twice his size. Back then, a 225-250 pound wrestler was pretty big, not like the 300 plus we see today. The young man took the steroids, worked out in the gym and grew to nearly 260. He was one of the lucky ones, because he didn’t contract all of the side-effects.

Athletes will use steroids in cycles, which can range in duration from a couple of weeks, to a couple of months, depending on the drug and the desired results. The drugs most commonly are injected, but can also be taken orally. There are different types of steroids that can be taken, and sometimes they are taken in combination. This practice can lead to negative results.

Steroids do not give the user any sense of euphoria, so recreational use is not the purpose, but that does not mean there are not negative side effects which could be similar. What can happen in long-term use is that the user may experience mood swings, which lead to behavioral issues. Commonly, the user becomes agitated and may get violent. The drugs can also cause other psychiatric problems, including paranoia and delusions.

Unlike recreational drugs, it is more difficult to determine if steroids themselves are addictive, or if the individual is merely addicted to the perceived effect of the drug. Users will often continue using, even though the benefits are not there, but the negative effects persist, such as relationship ills and other social issues.

The mood swings are coupled with sleeplessness, loss of appetite and one of the more dangerous side-effects, according to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, is depression. When the benefit of the drug is experienced, a use may feel invincible. He may also feel quite the opposite. Suicide is known to occur.

When users experience the down side of steroids, they might turn to other drugs to counteract the negative side effects. Abuse of illegal drugs, such as heroin or cocaine is common among users self-medicate to feel better. Often they wind up in treatment centers because of this abuse.

There are serious health risks associated with steroids, such as liver damage, high blood pressure, jaundice and renal failure. While steroids might make an average athlete into looking like a Greek god, the steroids can cause serious damage to the testicles, as well as other negative physical changes. Hepatitis and HIV/AIDS are also unexpected consequences associated with steroid use.

There are fathers out there who allow their high school sons to use steroids, in hopes of “earning” a college scholarship. Adolescents using steroids are at risk of stunted growth as a result of a faster skeletal growth while under the influence of the drug.

Girls using the steroids may develop facial hair and have changes in their menstrual cycle, or even stop having their time of month entirely. The dream of athletic success is intoxicating, and so the lure of looking the other way is enormous. Much more harm than good will be the result of steroid use for the purpose of getting an “edge.”

Whether it’s a college scholarship, a starting position in an athletic team, or dreams of looking good and being more appealing, the health risks associate with steroid abuse are staggering. It isn’t worth it. Like so many other “legal” drugs that are abused, steroids, prescribed by a physician, in the right dosage, in the right increments, are beneficial. But as in life, too much of a good thing is never good.

Is It Legal To Gamble Online?

November 10th, 2008 by emergency911

In America the question of whether it is legal or not to gamble online is a highly poignant one. In November of 2002 the 5th circuit court of appeals deemed the Federal Wire Act to prohibit the transferal of funds for sports betting via telecommunications lines, but allowed that it auto insurance quotes not prohibit one to gamble online on a game of chance. In the years that followed the trend started to shift away from encouraging one to gamble online. Both Google and Yahoo! Stopped advertising online gaming on their sites in 2004, and later in that year Casino City bought a case against the US government claiming that it was entirely legal to gamble online and that therefore first amendment rights were being violated. The District court for the Middle District of Louisiana thought the case out in February 2005; however, since April 2005 Yahoo! Reviewed their stance and began advertising again all be it in a restricted manner.

2005 saw the passing of a bill though the North Dakota House of Representatives allowing for the existence of online poker and card rooms if run under the regulation of the state. Whilst it passed the State House of Representatives, it did not pass the State Senate. Throughout 2006 various operators were arrested and charged for violations of the Federal Wire Act, and in September of 2006 a last minute attachment was placed onto the Safe Port Act just before breaking for recess. This amendment is what would become the UIGEA (Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act), and when signed into law prohibited the transferal of funds from financial institutions to online gaming sites. This created a huge drop in interest in American online gaming and many companies suspended their services to American consumers.

2007 has disk data recovery services the introduction of both the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act, and the Skill Game Protection Act. The first would allow for the provision of internet gambling licenses under the auspices of the Director of the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, whilst the second would recategorize skill games such as poker, chess and bridge so that they wouldn’t be affected by legislation against games of chance. This is an ongoing process, but the Internet Gambling Regulation and Enforcement Act has come against hard opposition and the ability to carry it out has been drawn into serious question. So, for now, it is legal in most states to gamble online.

When Oil Hits 200 A Barrel, What Can We Do To Offset The Costs?

November 9th, 2008 by emergency911

Today I was listening to the news on the radio and low and behold a report was given on the rise of a barrel of oil and that within about 1 year it could hit $200.00 per barrel.

When I picked up my heart from off the floor I thought of what could I do to alleviate the erosion of my spending money since at that price it impotence remedy almost be none existent.

I was talking to a friend today and he mentioned that he filled up his van and car plus got a bit of gas for his lawnmower and guess how much he paid? $150.00 and if oil goes to $200.00 per barrel that would rise to $250.00 - $300.00 now where is there going to be enough money to feed a family. I imagine gardens are going to become very popular again, energy efficient vehicles and alternative energy.

There are a number of conservation techniques that we can do to help save some money.

  • Insulate your home so it is more efficient by reducing heat in the summer so you use less air conditioning and by stopping drafts in the winter it reduces the need for heat.
  • Eat at home - This is a bit odd isn’t it. Think of the energy it takes to go out. By eating at home during the winter the stove adds heat to the house.
  • Plan your trips to make the best use of your car.
  • Ride a bicycle or walk to work if you can.
  • Make sure your tire pressure is correct for the tires on your vehicle.
  • Um, I know you like to drive like the wind since you are always running behind but if you drive the speed limit you will save.
  • Here is a tip I never thought of since most cars these days have computers to tell you and your insurance quotes on line almost everything then controls your engine if you always change gas stations for the cheapest fuel you conference call rates find that your gas mileage will fluctuate. If you use the same gas station all the time you may find that your gas mileage actually goes up.
  • Keep your vehicle tuned up
  • Use synthetic oil with your equipment, vehicles and lawnmowers.
  • Don’t idle your car for more than two minutes. This one also helps the environment.
  • If you are in a windy place why not look into a wind generator.
  • If you are in a sunny place why not consider solar energy.
  • If you have old energy hogs like an old refrigerator replace them with energy star appliances.
  • Have you ever thought of inline hot water heaters? Why not take a look at how much energy and water you will be saving.

Skin Care Products - Not a Modern Invention

November 8th, 2008 by emergency911

Are you worried that you are getting older and your skin is showing signs of age? You are not alone. Today’s culture places a premium on youth and looking young. Our Hollywood stars and our commercials make us feel any blemish that makes us feel older is a bad one.

In fact, these perceptions are not new ones. The use of anti aging skin care products predates modern times. Make up has been used for centuries to make people look and feel younger. Thousands of years ago the Egyptians used makeup. Other cultures that used makeup included ancient Greeks and Romans, and Europeans during the Renaissance. Anti aging skin care products generally belonged to the rich as impoverished classes could not afford luxury items.

Now, however, such skin care products are marketed toward all classes. Indeed, the intensity with which these products are advertised and marketed - especially towards very young people - is something new. TV commercials, Internet commercials and print ads bombard us with images of the ideal young face.

Of course, it’s not just the face on the cover of the magazine that looks so beautiful, but also how it’s presented. education loan consolidation photographic and dark room technology allows for touchups on advertisements that can make people’s skin look better in print than it can possibly look in real life. The result: an almost unattainable goal for young and perfect looking skin. When people see Madonna’s face on the cover of Rolling Stone they are seeing not just a beautiful young face, but the work of makeup artists, camera crews and now digital editing artists.

Even Dove soap’s recent auto insurance specialist of commercials promoting the idea that women and young girls accept themselves and their bodies as they are has its problems. Apparently, one of Hollywood’s leading touchup artists was hired to make these supposedly “ordinary” models look just a little bit more extraordinary. Even as women were being invited to log on to a website and share their stories of self acceptance, they were being exposed to images of impossible perfection.

Anti aging skin care products are big business. Dubai, a Middle Eastern country that is now attracting Western business, will soon greet the world’s best anti-aging experts as doctors and professionals meet at the first Dubai Congress on Anti Aging and Aesthetic Medicine which will be held at the Dubai World Trade Center November 7-9, 2008.

The focus of the conference is to bring medical practitioners from America, Europe and Australia to present their latest research and techniques for anti-aging.

Currently the anti aging market is estimated to be worth $97 billion according to the director and organizers of the program. Anti-aging products and surgeries are estimated to have an annual growth rate of almost 9% and are expected to generate sales of $115.5 billion by the year 2010.

Most consumer groups say there is nothing inherently wrong with skincare products designed to help you look and feel younger; rather, just the sheer bombardment of marketing techniques can be harmful. If it makes you feel good to wear products that allow you to feel full of youth , talk with your doctor or dermatologist about the available products. Sometimes just shopping for makeup with a group of friends can be fun. There’s no harm in having a good time. Critics simply worry that people - especially young girls - can become so obsessed with external appearances that they lose sight of psychological health and inner beauty.
